A Tale of Two Daddies by Vanita Oelschlager, Kristin Blackwood & Mike Blanc Review

A Tale of Two Daddies is a playground conversation between two children. The boy says he heard that the girl has two dads. The girl says that is right--she has Daddy and Poppa. True to a child’s curiosity, practical questions follow: "Which dad helps when your team needs a coach? / Which dad cooks you eggs and toast?” To which she answers: "Daddy is my soccer coach. / Poppa cooks me eggs and toast.”

Intended for 4- to 8-year-olds, this book introduces a type of family increasingly visible in modern society. Neither favoring nor condemning, it reflects a child’s practical and innocent look at the adults who nurture and love her. It becomes clear that the family bond is unburdened by any cultural discomforts.

A Tale of Two DaddiesA Tale of Two Daddies by Vanita Oelschlager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an adorable look at the always inquisitive and learning mind of a child. One is asking another all about who does what for her because she has two fathers. She answers all the questions in a straightforward way, just like young kids do. This book is a great way to show a family is a family no matter the actual makeup of the members. I recommend it to any child who has questions. Whom I kidding, kids are walking question marks so it's for all of them.

#ReadYourWorld My Amazing Day by Karin Fisher-Golton, Lori A. Cheung & Elizabeth Iwamiya Review

With radiant, engaging photography, this board book follows a young child’s day. Simple yet powerful words illuminate the joy to be found in everyday activities. The book ends with a meaningful, age-appropriate expression of gratitude, and a fun opportunity to connect each “thank you!” with its related activity earlier in the book.
My Amazing Day is one of very few books that addresses gratitude for the 0-3 year-old age group in a way that does not rely on any particular spiritual path. You can learn more about the compelling scientific studies in recent years regarding the benefits of expressing gratitude, read inspiring quotes related to gratitude, and share ideas for gratitude traditions here.

My Amazing Day: A Celebration of Wonder and GratitudeMy Amazing Day: A Celebration of Wonder and Gratitude by Karin Fisher-Golton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is perfect for putting parents and toddlers on the right track for a good attitude resulting in a great day. Through words and pictures, it acknowledges things in the environment from a child's perspective and gives examples of gratitude. It's positive and graceful learning. I think it does an excellent job of teaching children early about self awareness and appreciation. I definitely recommend it for the 0-3 age group.

Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2017 is in its fourth year and was founded by Valarie Budayr from Jump Into A Book and Mia Wenjen from PragmaticMom. It's mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids’ books that celebrate diversity in home and school bookshelves while also working diligently to get more of these types of books into the hands of young readers, parents and educators.
Despite census data that shows 37% of the US population consists of people of color, only 10% of children’s books published have diversity content. Using the Multicultural Children’s Book Day holiday, the MCBD Team is on a mission to change all of that.

THANOS by ELLA FRANK Release Blitz Review

Thanos by Ella Frank
Series: Masters Among Monsters #3
Publication Date: January 26th, 2017
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Synopsis

CHARMED FOR LIFE?

Thanos Agapiou has always been a charmer. For over two millennia, the vampire had no problem acquiring whom and what he wanted with a flash of his handsome smile. He took for granted the boyish good looks he presumed he’d possess for the rest of eternity.

How very wrong he was.

A nearly fatal attack distorted his entire existence. With his appearance now matching the title many have bestowed their kind—monster—he hides away from the world and all of those who know him, including his Ancient, Eton.
Until one night when a stranger draws him out from the shadows.

OR CURSED FOR ETERNITY?

Ever since Paris Antoniou was thrust into a world of vampires, his reality has become stranger than the history and the myths he’s studied for the past decade.

When he learns the truth about his origins and the power he wields, his confusion and fear have him running for his life. What he doesn’t expect is to run into the arms of Thanos—a vampire who doesn’t intimidate him as much as he intrigues him.

WHAT HAS THE POWER TO MAKE YOU WANT TO SURVIVE?

As their worlds collide under extraordinary circumstances, an attraction neither can deny takes hold. But will that be enough to save Thanos from his demons, or will he condemn Paris to his fate?

Destinies have been changed. Lines have been crossed. And, with tales of the vampire race coming to an end, who will make the ultimate sacrifice?
After all, in a world run by vampires and gods, only one can be the true Master among the Monsters.

Review

Thanos (Masters Among Monsters, #3)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This installment picks up immediately after the last. Each of the three Ancients has a first-sired. They are a pair for all eternity. Each relationship is unique, be it sexual, friendship or a deeper necessity. The first vampires were made by three of the Greek gods. Now those same gods have sent three demigods to end the vampires. Because of current feelings and past actions, lines for everyone have blurred.

I had no idea how things would end for all involved. Some things seemed unforgivable, and others undeniable. All of the nine main characters play a part in this book. Each book has continued to world build and add to the series storyline.

Even after the ending, Thanos and Eton are a bit of a mystery to me. I really liked Paris and the interactions between Thanos and Paris. Leo almost stole the show for me in this book. He's probably my favorite character from the series. All of the cast bring something unique.

If you're a fan of the previous books, you must read this one. If you haven't started the series, but you like paranormal romance, give this one a try. It has M/M, M/M/M, M/F, M/F/M themes. Some parts are erotic. There are flashbacks. Greek mythology and gods play a big part. It's an interesting turn on the idea of vampires. Everything does wrap up on good note.

MENACE by J.M. Darhower Review

MENACE
(Scarlet Scars Book One)
Dark Romance
J.M. Darhower

Release Date: January 16th

Scarlet Scars is a two-book series.
GRIEVOUS (Scarlet Scars Book Two) will release February 6th.
***Scarlet Scars contains dark elements that some readers may find disturbing***

***Synopsis***

Once upon a time, there was a guy who got so fed up with life that he resorted to murder and mayhem just to feel alive.

Lorenzo Gambini is bored. So fucking bored. Most people either annoy him or avoid him, afraid to face him. Figuratively. Literally. With his face partially disfigured, scarred, he looks every bit the monster the stories make him out to be: the notorious menace they call Scar. They say he's a sociopath. Maybe he's a psychopath. Whatever path he's on, people tend to stay far away from it.

Until one day, a young woman bumps right into him—a woman just as fed up with life, but for much different reasons. With a Scarlet Letter inked on her wrist and secrets buried deep in her soul, Morgan Myers is running from something... or maybe somebody. Lorenzo isn't quite sure.

You can bet your ass he's going to figure it out, though.

Review

Menace (Scarlet Scars, #1)

4.5 stars

I respect how Lorenzo doesn't do a lot of posturing like some males, and Morgan doesn't apologize like some females. They are flawed people, but they are who they are. Both characters are awesome. You don't know what they're going to do next. It's easy to connect with them even if their behaviors are something you would never consider in your own life. Lorenzo is physically scarred across his face and blind in one eye; yet, he exudes loads more appeal than a perfect and fake male lead would. Morgan is definitely not the sweet and virginal type. Both are harsh and real with painful backgrounds, but it's not difficult to find their hearts underneath it all. Morgan is on a mission. A dangerous man is after her. No one wants to help. Lorenzo is looking for some excitement and trouble. They make a perfect match.

I loved this story. It kept my attention the entire time. It has mystery, action and raw grit. I stayed up late into the night reading. I haven't done that in awhile. No one knows how to write organized crime quite like this author, and no matter how many she writes, the cast in each is totally unique and believable. I definitely recommend Menace, and I can't wait for the next book.
