Limerence by Claire C. Riley Review

One man’s obsession will destroy her world.

After a chance encounter with Mr Breckt- the mysterious new owner of The Island, Mia's thoughts are constantly consumed with the handsome and powerful stranger. But there is much more to her fixation of him than she realizes.

Mr Breckt is a hundred year old vampire, and he isn't used to being told no.
He could take her at any time, but his ego insists that she wants him of her own freewill. With his obsession spiraling out of control, he finds her body, her mind, and most importantly her blood continuously calling to him, and the more she fights him, the more he wants her.

Mia finds herself at the center of a struggle she doesn't understand. Caught between life and death, hope and fear, love and lust. Ultimately, she will have to make a sacrifice that will affect everyone. But no matter what choices are made, Mia could still lose.

Limerence is a dark story of love, lust, and obsession.

She writes characters that are realistic and kills them without mercy.

Limerence

This story, although contemporary, has an old feel to it. The vampires aren't as romanticized. There is an undeniable attraction between the female lead and the main vampire antagonist, but they do not have the same goal in mind. Really neither are in their right minds, hence the title. Everything that happens cannot be glossed over. He doesn't have pure intentions, and when his façade slips, she can see the monster underneath.

At times I found myself wanting to be on Mr. Breckt's side, much like Mia, but I knew only bad things could come of it, also just as Mia did. The story has mystery elements and dream sequences reminiscent of the original Dracula story, but the feelings in this story draw the reader in much deeper in my opinion. It has more of an edge and more desperation. The writing allows the reader to feel from each characters point of view. I felt something for them all. Oliver's character totally won me over. He is the sweetest soul.
I lie awake for hours on end. Worrying for Oliver, worrying for us, and thinking of him. I feel like I am in a Harry Potter movie: 'he who shall not be named.'

The entire time I was reading, I was waiting for the evil to drop. Every scene was spooky in my head because I just knew something was going to happen at any moment. Things do happen. Prepare to feel sadness and anger. Within the words are two tragic love stories and a compelling entry into a new world. Mia has great heroine potential. She's someone the reader can really get behind. I'm looking forward to more.
So what now? Now what do I do?

Do I want to carry on as if everything is okay, as if everything is going to be okay? Can things ever be good again.

If imperfect vampires (vs the vampire fantasy fairytale of many books these days) is your thing, this book is probably for you.

Lies And Truth ( book 1) by Elaine May

Lies And Truth (Book 1)
by
Elaine May

When Isla Holmes life as a child is turned upside down and she is ripped away from her soul mate she is forced to live a life with evil.
When Isla and her soul mate cross paths will they find a happy ever after or will evil intervene?

Elaine May is an American film director, screenwriter and actress. She achieved her greatest fame in the 1950s from her improvisational comedy routines in partnership with Mike Nichols.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This story has dark elements and a mysterious feel to it. The beginning has a series of flashbacks in a dream sequence showing the reader clues of the past and planting the seeds for what comes ahead. Also, the story goes straight into her being sexually abused. She has basically been living the life of a tortured sex slave for several years.

For me, the storyline did not really draw my interest until a 3rd of the way in. Despite her treatment, Isla has been brainwashed by the ones controlling her to see things a certain way. These things start to unravel. Clues are continuously coming to surface.

I don't know if it was me or the story, but I did not feel as connected to Isla's character as I would like to have. I also felt the love interest was missing something. The biggest emotional connection I had was how much I hated the bad guys—A Lot. I do think the story got steadily better as it went along. This isn't a single so all the answers haven't been given yet. The mystery part is excellent because I still cannot understand what the play the bad guys are trying to run is.

REVIEW

Alarm

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Going into this book, it appeared to be another dangerous bad boy meets innocent good girl story, but it has a much more heartfelt storyline than that.

Chloe tries to be the perfect girl, daughter, employee, friend, etc. She never wants to tell anyone no or hurt their feelings. Inside, she is bored with her life and wonders if this is it for her. Aside from her cool sci-fi geekiness, she has nothing much interesting about her.

One night Chloe has too much to drink and meets a man who is majorly muscled, large and tattooed. Warning bells are going off in her head, but she decides to not play it safe this one time.
I marveled at the story the pictures told, laid out on his skin for everyone to see but no one to understand.
The hidden truth was both beautiful and sad at the same time.

Things progress super quickly. All the clues point to him being a threatening criminal, but he treats her so good. He cooks for her, spends money on her, spends time with her talking and going on adventures. He helps her to come out of her shell.
"That's life, Chloe. That's living."

The fire between them is supernova strength.
"I don't want to stop," Aiden said as he stared down at me. His eyes wandered from my breasts to my thighs, hungrily. "I want to fuck you. I don't want to have to worry about pulling out. I want to fuck you hard, and I want to come in you. I don't give a shit what happens.
BTW, this is just one hot example of his pillow talk. He loves to talk dirty during sex. :)

For her, it all boils down to can she trust him with her heart. She knows her solid stable life, and being with him feels like moving in the total opposite direction. For him, there is a whole world of other issues going on, and she is the only thing that makes it feel right. This story is filled with many life lessons like stand up for yourself, don't jump to conclusions, face your problems, be true to yourself to name a few. It has excitement, sexiness, pain and sweetness.

ALARM was not what I was expecting, and I'm glad. It's filled with characters that I would love to know in real life, and it left me with a good feeling.

DEBT FULL

Synopsis

I don’t know what I was thinking when I hired someone to attack me. Maybe I was bored, or lonely, or there was a void so deep inside of me that I needed something explosive to fill it. It was supposed to be safe. A thrill. A way to break through the monotony of everyday life. It was an illusion of danger that I could walk away from as soon as it was over. Except that it wasn’t. Because I had been in danger long before I ever invited it into my life. ——————— My mission is almost complete. The bubbling boil of vengeance that heats my blood might finally simmer. She is the last piece of the puzzle. Once I destroy her, everyone who ever hurt me will have paid their debt. It was supposed to be quick and easy, but as soon as I met her it got complicated. Very complicated.

Excerpt

I spin again to face him, and I hike my dress up just under my ass, while straddling one of his legs. His eyes are affixed on mine, like we are only two people in this crowded club. I ride his thigh, rubbing my bare pussy against him, as I lick my lips and run a hand through my hair. My chest presses against the firmness of his torso, my nipples stiffening from the contact. “Please, dance with me,” I beg in a mewl. His hand threads through my hair, the other grabs my ass and pulls me up and against his thigh, applying more pressure against him. Brick by brick. And we move in sync: slow, rhythmic grinding. Eye to eye. Lids barely parted. Sweat beading. Low moans vanish into the air. The deafening music drowns out any conflicted feelings that remain. He tugs my hair and extends my neck, grazing his teeth against my chin, the tip of his tongue awakening the sensitive nerve endings. His hand squeezes my half-exposed ass, and everything lights up. My nipples and clit, a partnership of arousal, tense in ecstasy as they stroke against the man who sets me on fire. He is also the only person who can put me out. My moans grow louder, but they are drowned out in the safety of the music. And like the flashing lights in the club, I become ablaze with flickering energy, throwing my head back, arching my spine as he supports me, as he lets me use his body, his smell, his taste, his overpowering masculine energy to put out the blaze that he ignites inside of me. I collapse onto him, grasping his shirt, taking in his smell, the warmth of his broad chest, completely lost in the sensory experience that is Tax. I smile as I burrow my face into his chest, drunk off the mixture of alcohol and lust.

REVIEW

DEBTDEBT by Nina G. Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It's 4am. I just finished this book, and I don't even know where to begin. I stayed up all night reading it. I kept trying to put it down, but it wouldn't let me. Lord, what a story. It just kept evolving, the further into the plot I went, the deeper I fell. For a full day, this book was my whole world, now what. The emotions I felt...
Now my sleep deprived mind is going to try to lay some words down about this novel that hopefully make sense and relay the message of it's greatness.

There are so many layers to the storyline, that some could have been removed and it still would have been awesome, but including everything just makes it amazing. We start with Mia. She is an independent modern woman and a secret "freak" in the bedroom, but in the business world, she can't find a man that will go far enough into that lifestyle to satisfy her.
From what I've seen—and dated—I just don't feel like most men have anything to offer that I can't do for myself.

She finds herself on a secret website putting in an order for her own rape...
This is the dark alleyway of the internet, where you can order drugs, prostitutes, and find illegal porn.
It's 2am and I am lurking on the deep web for a male prostitute to mock-rape me.

Tax pays her a visit, and let me tell ya, the sex and the man are both off the charts hot.
OK, so wow right! From the synopsis and teasers, I thought this was basically the story. Sounds like he's going to turn into a creepy stalker right? But what is this debt deal? Exactly!

The book pops between current and past times. I thought when it was finally revealed, the whole revenge plot, that it would be minor, and everything would fade away. When I learned everything, I cried. I haven't moved past it myself yet even after finishing the story so I totally understand the need for vengeance.
I couldn't just dissolve into everyday life. My life is revenge. My life is rage. I had nothing to look forward to.

There was no downtime for me in this book. I was completely captivated the entire read. Whether it was from the sexiness, sadness, anger, desire, love... I felt it all. Tax, Mia, Jude, Rex and Sil all took a piece of my heart, but Silvio and Judith broke it.

There is so much more that I would like to say, but I don't want to ruin the book. Learning as you read is part of the experience with this story. I highly endorse this book. It is definitely at the top of my 2014 list.
