REVIEWS

Where He Ends and I Begin (Home, #3)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is pure sweetness, awww to the max. It definitely hit the spot for the mood I was in.

Nate and Jake were destined to be together. They were raised as one big family. It's like both have a second set of parents and a brother. They aren't alike in the sense that one is a jock and the other a nerd, but they both form their life around and follow the other. The way they base their entire existence on one another makes an epic romance inevitable. They do have a few bumps to pass on the way, but this is mostly a drama free, smooth read.

If you're looking for an adorable couple who are all about their love for each other, this is the story for you.

The Half of Us (Family, #4)

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Many stories are about the meeting and trying to hook up, the excitement of it all. This volume already has that. It's about the actual settling down.

Jason tried marriage with a woman, but couldn't stay faithful. His reason for not being able to commit to the marriage is that he's gay, but in his mind, he believes that monogamy wasn't meant for him.

Jason has already lived it up, slept with more men than he can count, but after meeting Abe that lifestyle doesn't appear as glamorous as he thought it was.

This change in his feelings also opens his eyes to other areas of his life that need work. I adore the whole family aspect of this story. It has plenty of heat, but we get the sweetness and real life problems as well. And I love how he has a great relationship with his ex-wife. So often the exes are portrayed as bitches, but his ex is lovely. They're still best friends. This book has a cast of likable and relatable characters which I think is wonderful.

I give it 4.5 stars and a whole lot of heart.

Jesse's Diner (Hope, #2)

This is a feel good story. It has so many factors which could have caused major dramatics, but they're handled with grace. Steve is a 39 year old HIV-positive man who lost his life partner. Tanner is a socially awkward virgin who is in love with his friend's dad (Steve).

These two smoothly ease into a relationship and handle everything maturely. I'm a fan of not having manufactured drama. I love the sweetness. McFarland's Farm (book 1) was better for me, but I do recommend Jesse's Diner to someone looking for a cute, pleasant, lovable read.

Something in the Way He Needs (Family, #1)

I really had trouble finding any sense of connection with these characters. More than anything I felt aggravation or apathy with their relationship. My recommendation is not to start with this book if you haven't read Cardeno C. before. Then again, plenty of people love this one so it may be your type of read.

REVIEW

Strange Bedfellows

This is a tale of the romance between two men from opposing backgrounds and beliefs. A chance hook up changes them in a forever way.

Since the men and their families are in the spotlight, I worried there would be lots of underhanded behavior. I really appreciate how the characters were mostly mature in their actions. Trevor and Ford are obviously meant to be together and come off as a super sweet couple.

I like this book, some parts more than others. I enjoy the way the Hollingsworth siblings still playfully bicker like children. Also, the author enforced the idea of family relationships in more than one way. Trevor's parents aren't monogamous, but they are 100% each other's best supporter. Being honest and open are major sticking points throughout. I recommend Strange Bedfellows to someone looking for a low-drama, thoughtful romance.

REVIEW

Just What the Truth Is (Home, #5)Just What the Truth Is by Cardeno C.

Ben has a hard time accepting himself as is. He's a gay man who has been told his entire life that being gay is wrong. His parents taught him that all gay men live wild and dangerous and end up alone. He has always been the good son. No matter how old he gets, it's hard to choose his happiness over pleasing his parents. When he meets Micah and can no longer deny his feelings, Ben goes through a life crisis trying to figure out how to move forward.

This story is filled with a family and friends vibe. I believe everyone can identify with Ben to some extent. We've all had to figure out who we are and where we're headed. I like the humor Ben brings. He tends to makes fun of himself to lighten the mood. Just What the Truth is also has lots of sexy bits and romance. I recommend this to those looking for a perfectly sweet happily ever after.

10 bits of random trivia, with Greg.

1)   I actually studied acting in college, along with opera; but got a degree in Computer Science.
2)   My recording booth itself is only 3’ x 5’ x 6’ . . . so when I read MM romance, I go INTO the closet.  Ironic, no?
3)   It takes between 5 and 7 hours of total production time with the finished manuscript to create 1 hour of final audio.  Fiction Audio reads at about 9800 words per hour.
4)   In addition to voice acting, I have been a Whale Watching guide, a Paramedic, and a Farrier (shoeing horses)
5)   I rarely, if ever, listen to a complete book again once the production is finished.  By the time I am done, I’ve read the book to myself, read it aloud, and listened to it for editing… and I’m on to the next story.
6)   Anguish is the easiest emotion for me to portray, because a well-written script pulls you in, and it’s a completely one-person emotion – but it’s draining.  I have cried in the booth more than a few times.  Comic passages are the trickiest, because the proper timing and reaction between characters are essential.
7)   I drink an average of 1.5 liters of water per hour, while recording.  Average recording sessions are 2-4 hours long between breaks.
8)   As a kid, I lived with my family on a sailboat for a year.
9)   My personal record for most distinct voices in a single book is 73
10)                  Coffee, Dairy and Alcohol are all bad for the voice. . . which means I have to moderate some of life’s greatest pleasures.  (not eliminate tho, I’m not crazy)

Johnnie (Siphon Collection #1)

This was my first time with lion shifters and the whole idea of a premier and siphon. Hugh is a huge alpha, 7 feet tall, 300 pounds. His whole presence is very large also. Johnnie is sweet, sensitive and ignored. I really felt bad for him. For many shifter stories everyone seems like family. To me, this book felt more like a king and his kingdom.

Those who love shifters and the author's other works will probably love this one too. It has a beast of an alpha and a virgin in the shadows who has always loved him. There's lots of sex and figuring out ones place in life. It has the whole animal world way of doing things, survival of the fittest and all, but it also has the human side of things including emotions.
