review

Football Sundae

This story is adorable. Tanner and Billy are in a pretty ideal small town in Texas. Each character is friendly and mostly sweet. Food, community parties and local 'celebrity' athletes are on the minds of everyone. Tanner is a college football player. Billy works at his family's diner and has aspirations of being a dessert chef. They have the cutest courtship. There are no 'bad guys' in this story. Some are less informed about LGBT+ maters, but no one is trying to be mean.
Football Sundae is mostly about Tanner and Billy figuring out their feelings are mutual and sorting out everyday life issues. If you're looking for a down-home, drama-free, sexy and pleasant gay romance, you definitely should give this book a read.

GRIEVOUS by J.M. Darhower Review

GRIEVOUS
(Scarlet Scars Book Two)
Dark Romance
J.M. Darhower

Release Date: February 6th

Scarlet Scars is a two-book series.

***Scarlet Scars contains dark elements that some readers may find disturbing***

***Synopsis***

Once upon a time, there was a girl who stopped believing in fairy tales after her innocence was stolen.

Morgan Myers is tired. So damn tired. Most people either push her around or brush her off, and she's not putting up with it anymore. Determined to reclaim the life that had been stolen from her, she puts her trust in the last person she ever expected to: the notorious they call Scar. Morgan sees a side of him that few people seem to know—the man, not the myth. Lorenzo. And what she sees, she likes, a lot more than she thought she would.

But fairy tales aren't real, as life likes to remind her. Some dragons, you just can't slay, no matter how hard you fight them. And when hers comes back around, breathing fire, she's forced to face some unimaginable horrors. But there's a white knight in combat boots out there that isn't afraid of monsters.

You see, it's impossible to be afraid of something you see every day in the mirror.

MENACE
(Scarlet Scars Book One)

Release Date: January 16th

***Synopsis***

Once upon a time, there was a guy who got so fed up with life that he resorted to murder and mayhem just to feel alive.

Lorenzo Gambini is bored. So fucking bored. Most people either annoy him or avoid him, afraid to face him. Figuratively. Literally. With his face partially disfigured, scarred, he looks every bit the monster the stories make him out to be: the notorious menace they call Scar. They say he's a sociopath. Maybe he's a psychopath. Whatever path he's on, people tend to stay far away from it.

Until one day, a young woman bumps right into him—a woman just as fed up with life, but for much different reasons. With a Scarlet Letter inked on her wrist and secrets buried deep in her soul, Morgan Myers is running from something... or maybe somebody. Lorenzo isn't quite sure.

You can bet your ass he's going to figure it out, though.

Review

Grievous (Scarlet Scars, #2)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story picks up where Menace leaves off. You definitely have to read Menace first. The dilemmas aren't solved when Grievous begins, but it has a lighter touch in comparison to Menace. The main characters are doing well. They still know that a showdown is inevitable, but they have some fun. The reader gets to know more about them and see more into their personalities. I actually started thinking this book wasn't going to have the hints of dark the first one did. I was wrong. It has a point where events are definitely taken further in the direction of dark than book one.
Despite everything Lorenzo and Morgan went through in the past and endure in this book, they don't loose their humanity. They're easy to understand and love. Some of the sweetest scenes happen. The ugly and precious balance out and give it a realistic feeling. I love the cast and the plot. If you like mob style tales, you should definitely check out this series. No one does organized crime like this author.

GOOD BOY by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy Review

AMAZON | IBOOKS | B&N | KOBO

Good Boy

Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.
Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.
But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?
Warning: Do not read while sipping hot liquids. Or cold ones. Or while sitting anywhere laughter would be inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppies and a snarky pair of underwear.

Good Boy (WAGs, #1)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you read HIM and US (amazing must reads), you'll be happy to learn that Jamie and Wesley are in this book. They aren't the leads, but it's a treat to see more of them. Jess is Jamie's sister. Blake is Wesley's teammate, and he lives in the same building as Jamie and Wesley. Jess and Blake had a hookup in US, but they weren't actually together.
Jess feels like she isn't as put together as the rest of the Canning clan. She's trying to figure out her life. Blake is adorable. At first glance, he seems shallow and only surface deep, but that's because he likes to keep things lite. He prefers to make people happy. He's kind and funny, beautiful inside and out. Jess and Blake are so easy to love. They're decent people with big hearts and relatable actions. Both are great friend material, and they definitely fit as a couple.
I really enjoyed this story. It left me with a good feeling. It's a mix of RomCom, sweet, sexy and sporty. It's worth checking out for sure.
