Slowly, I draw up to his side at the railing. Strategically, I make sure to come quite close to him, close enough for our elbows to kiss. Even through the fabric of my shirt and his blazer, there is electricity in our every touch. I hope he feels it too. This can’t all just be in my little lonely, hungry head.
“The stars look like ... dust,” he murmurs in awe. "So many of them."
His mouth doesn’t need to be by my ear. Just his little words send a message through the network of my body, from my ear, down the cable of my neck, sending an email alert down my spine, jiggling me everywhere in my belly, then wrestling its way down my thighs and converting my knees into noodles. How does he do that?
I turn my face and study the side of his as he stares into the endless black unknown. The crashing sound of waves as the cruise ship cuts through the gulf is all we hear. I’m with him. He’s with me. No one is around. We’re alone.
We’re alone.
I stare and I stare at him. I want to kiss him. I keep daring myself to do it. Do it. Do it.

Daryl Banner is a writer and composer who graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Theatre and Psychology.
He does not write in any single genre, as his stories tend to span several. He is most inspired by the smart and unlikely hero, but urges you (the reader) not to fall in love with them; they may deceive you with their innocence. He is thrilled by putting his characters in terrible situations where they must face choices and challenges that seem impossible to overcome.
Daryl Banner writes contemporary fiction, sci-fi/fantasy (both in medieval and futuristic senses), unique takes on the apocalypse and paranormal romance genre, as well as magic realism. He cannot wait to hear what you think about his stories and welcomes (and responds to!) all feedback.
Interesting tidbits: Daryl is also an obsessive piano player, video game enthusiast, and occasional actor. He's been remixing video game music for over fifteen years, and is a passionate Final Fantasy fan. It's very difficult for Scott to unwind. He's making plans to actually do it (proving just how much he really can't) on this vacation. Things keep happing the wrong way from how he wants them to go except for continual run ins with a certain sexy passenger. After actually meeting Hendry, life begins to flow by much easier. Never having let go before, Scott has to find the happy medium between uptight and going overboard.
This author's stories seem to always have a little message to me. This one seemed to say you have to lighten up before you crack up. And of course it's full of his unique fun and flavorful wording.
As far as I know, Slippery When Wet is the last of the Brazen Boys series. I liked them all, but I have to give a shoutout to my favorite. If you haven't read Straight Up, it's a must.
